Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (BTET)

The Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (BTET) is a state-level examination conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) to determine the eligibility of candidates for appointment as teachers in the state of Bihar. The test is conducted in two categories: Paper I for candidates who wish to teach classes I to V, and Paper II for candidates who wish to teach classes VI to VIII.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in education (B.Ed.) from a recognized university.
  • Candidates who have completed a two-year Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) and have at least 50% marks in their bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply.

Exam pattern:

  • The BTET consists of two papers: Paper I and Paper II.
  • Paper I consists of 150 multiple choice questions (MCQs) divided into five sections: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (Hindi or English), Language II (Hindi or English), Mathematics, and Environmental Studies.
  • Paper II consists of 150 MCQs divided into four sections: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (Hindi or English), Language II (Hindi or English), and Mathematics or Science or Social Studies.

Marking scheme:

  • Each correct answer will be awarded one mark.
  • There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.

Validity:

  • The BTET certificate is valid for a period of seven years from the date of the examination.
