After independence, the Congress continued to hold sessions as a political party (rather than as the pre-eminent national platform of the freedom struggle); its first post-independence session was held at Jaipur (1948), presided over by Dr Pattabhi Sitaramayya. These later sessions are generally of lower exam priority than the pre-1947 sessions listed above, though the Avadi Session (1955), which adopted the goal of a "socialistic pattern of society," is occasionally referenced in economic-policy-related questions.
