Parminder Singh — CEO, Reliance Enterprise Intelligence

• Appointed to lead this Reliance-Meta JV; brings over 30 years' experience from Google, Apple and Twitter.
• Previously served as MD at Google (Asia-Pacific) and MD at Twitter (Southeast Asia, India and MENA).

Bharat Khera — Secretary, MSME Ministry

• A 1995-batch IAS officer with prior experience as Additional Secretary, Consumer Affairs.
• Also served as Joint Secretary (Air) in the Ministry of Defence from 2014-2020.

Ashutosh Gowariker — Festival Director, IFFI 57

• To lead Asia's oldest film festival (est. 1952), scheduled for November 2026 in Goa.
• Gowariker has had a long-standing association with IFFI spanning several decades.

Vishvajit Sahay — Secretary (Defence Finance)

• A 1990-batch IDAS officer, previously Controller General of Defence Accounts.
• Has also served as Additional Secretary & Financial Adviser, Department of Science and Technology.

Rohit Jain — Deputy Governor, RBI

• Appointed under Section 8 of the RBI Act, 1934; was serving as Executive Director at RBI.
• RBI typically has four Deputy Governors overseeing different functional areas of the central bank.

Anugraha Narayana Das — Controller General of Defence Accounts

• A 1991-batch IDAS officer with over three decades of defence financial-management experience.
• Has led key initiatives in procurement policy, audit oversight and expenditure monitoring.

Justice (Retd.) Anupinder Singh Grewal — President, NCLT

• Former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge appointed to head the tribunal.
• NCLT adjudicates corporate insolvency, company law and related commercial disputes.

Four Parliamentary Committees Reconstituted

• Speaker Om Birla reconstituted the Estimates, Public Undertakings, Public Accounts and SC/ST Welfare Committees for 2026-27.
• K.C. Venugopal (Congress) chairs the PAC; Baijayant Panda (BJP) heads Public Undertakings.
• Dr Sanjay Jaiswal chairs the Committee on Estimates, which comprises 30 Lok Sabha members.

NITI Aayog Gets Two New Full-Time Members

• Dr R. Balasubramaniam and Dr Joram Aniya appointed, taking full-time membership to seven.
• Dr Aniya is the first Nyishi woman with a PhD and Arunachal Pradesh's first Hindi doctorate.
• Dr Balasubramaniam is a former member of the Capacity Building Commission and author of 'Power Within'.

Prasoon Joshi — Chairman, Prasar Bharati

• Renowned lyricist and communications expert; previously chaired the CBFC since 2017.
• Also served as CEO of McCann World Group India and has been a Trustee of IGNCA since 2016.

Ravi K. — 22nd CMD, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

• Succeeds Dr D.K. Sunil; brings 30+ years of aerospace and defence-manufacturing experience.
• HAL, headquartered in Bengaluru, is majority-owned (71%) by the Government of India.

R. Vijay Anandh — MD & CEO, City Union Bank

• Takes over after N. Kamakodi completed his maximum 15-year tenure as MD & CEO.
• Previously served as Executive Director, having joined as Executive President in 2023.

Shashi Shekhar Vempati — Chairperson, CBFC

• Succeeds Prasoon Joshi, who moved to chair Prasar Bharati; term is three years.
• CBFC is the statutory body responsible for regulating public exhibition of films in India.

Kumar Mangalam Birla — Non-Executive Chairman, Vodafone Idea

• Returns to the role he first held from 2018-21, succeeding Ravinder Takkar.
• Takkar will continue as Non-Executive Director and Non-Executive Vice Chairman.

Priyanka Mittal — Co-Chair, Saudi-India Business Council

• FICCI nominee for this key India-Saudi trade platform, jointly formed with the Federation of Saudi Chambers.
• She is Director of KRBL (Khushi Ram & Behari Lal) Limited, a leading Indian rice exporter.

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan — Chief of the Naval Staff

• Succeeds Dinesh Kumar Tripathi; a Communication and Electronic Warfare specialist commissioned in 1987.
• Was serving as the 34th Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.

Suvendu Adhikari — First BJP CM of West Bengal

• Sworn in as the state's 9th CM, becoming the second CM from Midnapore after Ajoy Mukherjee.
• Five cabinet ministers were sworn in alongside him at Kolkata's Brigade Parade Grounds.
• The oath was administered by Governor R.N. Ravi.

Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani (Retd) — Chief of Defence Staff

• Succeeds Anil Chauhan; was serving as Military Adviser, National Security Council Secretariat.
• The CDS post, created in 2019, also heads the Department of Military Affairs.

Laura Virginia Fernández Delgado — President, Costa Rica

• At 39, became the 50th President, succeeding Rodrigo Chaves Robles for a 2026-30 term.
• Her right-wing Sovereign People's Party won an absolute legislative majority in February 2026.

Dr A.K. Panda — CMD, Steel Authority of India Limited

• Joined SAIL as a Management Trainee in 1992; succeeds interim head Krishna Kumar Singh.
• SAIL, incorporated in 1973, is headquartered in New Delhi under the Ministry of Steel.

Joseph Vijay — Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu

• Founder of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, sworn in as CM, succeeding M.K. Stalin.
• The actor-turned-politician's win marks a significant shift in Tamil Nadu's traditionally Dravidian-party-dominated politics.

Dr Harvansh Chawla — Chairman, BRISEC Chamber of Commerce & Industry

• Legal expert stepped down from chairing the BRICS Chamber of Commerce to lead this new grouping, established May 2026.
• Founder of K.R. Chawla & Co. Advocates since 1994, with expertise in infrastructure and banking law.

Rumen Radev — Prime Minister of Bulgaria

• Former President elected PM after Bulgaria's eighth parliamentary election in five years.
• Secured support of 124 of 240 members in the Bulgarian National Assembly.

R Mukundan — President, Confederation of Indian Industry (2026-27)

• Tata Chemicals' MD & CEO succeeds Rajiv Memani; Dr Suchitra K. Ella named President-Designate.
• Shashwat Goenka was elected Vice President for the same term.

Peter Magyar — Prime Minister of Hungary

• His Tisza Party's win ended Viktor Orbán's nearly two-decade rule.
• Tisza secured a two-thirds majority with 141 of 199 seats in the National Assembly.

Himanta Biswa Sarma — Assam CM (Second Term)

• First non-Congress leader in Assam's history to serve two consecutive terms as Chief Minister.
• Oath administered by Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Veterinary College Ground, Guwahati.

Akash Ambani — MD, Jio Platforms

• Appointed for a five-year term; has chaired Reliance Jio Infocomm's board since June 2022.

Yoweri Museveni — President of Uganda (7th term)

• Secured over 71% of the vote in the January 2026 election, extending his rule since 1986.
• One of Africa's longest-serving leaders; opposition candidate Bobi Wine received about 25% of the vote.

N. Rangasamy — Puducherry CM (5th Term)

• First leader in Puducherry's history to serve five terms as Chief Minister.
• Leads the AINRC-led NDA government following the 2026 Assembly elections.

Praveen Sood's CBI Tenure Extended

• Extended by one year by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet; his second such extension.
• The CBI, India's premier investigating agency, was established in 1963 under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Dr Kuljeet Kaur Marhas — First Indian Woman Fellow of The Meteoritical Society

• Third Indian scientist overall to receive the honour, after Devendra Lal and J.N. Goswami.
• Is a professor at the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL), Ahmedabad, associated with ISRO.

Saurabh Vijay — CEO, UIDAI

• A 1998-batch Maharashtra-cadre IAS officer and IIT Delhi civil engineer.
• Previously served as Principal Secretary (Expenditure), Finance Department, Government of Maharashtra.

Gunveer Singh — Executive Director, RBI

• Previously Chief General Manager-in-Charge of RBI's Department of Payment and Settlement Systems.
• Appointed effective 18 May 2026.

Ali Falih Kadhim al-Zaidi — PM of Iraq

• At 40, became Iraq's youngest-ever Prime Minister, succeeding Mohammed Shia al-Sudani.
• Nominated by the Coordination Framework political alliance.

Anurag Garg's NCB Tenure Extended

• Extended till July 2027 by the ACC; he succeeded Satya Narayan Pradhan as DG, NCB.
• NCB, established in 1986, is India's apex anti-drug enforcement and intelligence agency.

Sandeep Bakhshi Reappointed — MD & CEO, ICICI Bank

• RBI approved a new two-year term from October 2026 to October 2028.
• ICICI Bank Board had approved the reappointment earlier, in January 2026, subject to RBI clearance.

Elias George — Part-Time Chairman, Federal Bank

• A 1982-batch IAS officer with over 35 years of public-administration experience.
• Appointment effective from 23 May 2026, for a three-year tenure.

P. Jawahar — Chairman, MPEDA

• Succeeds D.V. Swamy; MPEDA oversees India's record ₹72,325.82 crore seafood exports in FY26.
• India's seafood export volume also reached a record 19.32 lakh metric tonnes in FY26.

CDSL, BSE, NSDL Appoint New Executive Directors

• Amit Mahajan and Nayana Ovalekar (CDSL); Saurabh Shukla and Gopalan S. Raghavan (BSE); Subhash Kelkar and Ankit Sharma (NSDL).
• Reflects coordinated leadership renewal across India's key market-infrastructure institutions.

Vice Admiral Ajay Kochhar — 48th Vice Chief of Naval Staff

• Previously Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command.
• Awarded the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (2022) and the Param Vishisht Seva Medal (2026).
