The State Bank of India (SBI) Clerk Exam, also known as the Junior Associates (Customer Support & Sales) Examination, is a recruitment exam conducted annually by the State Bank of India to select candidates for the position of Clerk. The exam consists of two stages: the preliminary examination and the main examination.
The preliminary examination is a multiple-choice objective test that tests the candidate’s knowledge in three main subjects: English Language, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning Ability. The English Language test will have 30 questions for 30 marks, the Numerical Ability test will have 35 questions for 35 marks and Reasoning Ability test will have 35 questions for 35 marks. The total duration of the preliminary examination is 1 hour.
The main examination is also a multiple-choice objective test and it tests the candidate’s knowledge in four main subjects: General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude and General/Financial Awareness. It consist of 200 questions for 200 marks and the total duration of the main examination is 2 hours 40 minutes.
In order to qualify for the main exam, a candidate has to score the minimum cut off marks decided by the bank.
Once the candidates cleared the both the exams, they have to go through the Language Proficiency Test (LPT) which will be of qualifying nature. LPT is to assess the knowledge of the local language of the state/ UT for which vacancies a candidate wishes to apply.
The final selection will be based on the performance in the main examination and will be subject to the candidate passing the test of local language.
As a general information, the SBI Clerk exam is conducted online and the notification regarding the exam is usually released in the month of April/May, The SBI Clerk Exam typically takes place in the months of June/July.
