Answer Key with Explanations

.(a) 84÷7=12; 9×4=36; 12+36−12=36.

.(a) Interest = 26,000−20,000 = ₹6,000 over 3 years; rate = (6,000×100)/(20,000×3) = 10%.

.(a) Let the numbers be x and y with x+y=90 and x−y=18; solving gives x=54, y=36, a ratio of 54:36 = 3:2.

.(a) Profit = 960−800 = ₹160; profit percentage = (160/800)×100 = 20%.

.(a) The first ten natural numbers sum to 55; average = 55/10 = 5.5.

.(a) Speed = 150 m / 15 s = 10 m/s = 10×18/5 = 36 km/h.

.(a) If CP of 20 articles equals SP of 16 articles, SP/CP per article = 20/16 = 1.25, a profit of 25%.

.(a) 15% of 400 = 60; 25% of 200 = 50; sum = 110.

.(a) Combined rate = 1/12; A's rate = 1/20; B's rate = 1/12−1/20 = 5/60−3/60 = 2/60 = 1/30, so B alone takes 30 days.

.(a) Amount = 10,000×(1.10)² = 12,100; compound interest = ₹2,100.
