Profit and Loss questions test the relationship between three core values: Cost Price (CP), Selling Price (SP), and the resulting Profit or Loss, always measured as a percentage of CP unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Type 1 — Basic CP–SP profit/loss percentage:

  • Governing Equation: Profit%/Loss%=SPCPCP×100\text{Profit\%/Loss\%} = \frac{|SP-CP|}{CP}\times 100
