  • Led by Surya Sen ("Masterda"), a schoolteacher and revolutionary in Chittagong (then Bengal, now in Bangladesh), along with associates including Ananta Singh, Ganesh Ghosh, Pritilata Waddedar, and Kalpana Dutta.
  • The group raided the local police armoury and auxiliary force armoury on 18 April 1930, attempting to seize weapons and cut off communication lines, briefly proclaiming a "provisional revolutionary government."
  • The raiders subsequently fought a prolonged, running guerrilla-style resistance against British forces in the Chittagong hills (notably the Battle of Jalalabad Hill); Surya Sen was eventually captured (1933, betrayed by an informer) and executed in 1934.
