Kalinga War "Kalinga gave Ashoka his conscience" — one battle, one edict (XIII), one conversion.
Hydaspes vs. Beas Battle at the Hydaspes (Jhelum); mutiny/turnaround at the Beas (Hyphasis) — two rivers, two different events.
Mahmud of Ghazni vs. Muhammad of Ghor Raider vs. conqueror: Ghazni raided 17 times and left; Ghor conquered once and stayed.
Tarain I & II "Tarain I: mercy. Tarain II: mastery." Same two rulers, opposite outcome, one year apart.
The Three Panipats "Panipat: Lodi, Hemu, Bhau" (losers, in order) — Peg: "pan" + "pat" → a frying pan being patted flat on an open plain.

The Two Anglo-Sikh Wars "Sikh Wars: two wars, one Punjab lost." Peg: First War = "MFS" (Mudki, Ferozeshah, Sobraon); Second War = "CG" (Chillianwala, Gujrat).
Kohima & Imphal (1944) "The twin gates that never opened" — northern gate (Kohima), southern gate (Imphal), both aimed at Delhi.
