"National Sports Day is observed on—?" Every SSC and RRB paper has two or three questions exactly like this, and they are the cheapest marks on the paper: no calculation, no confusion, pure recall. This month-by-month master list covers the days that have actually been asked in SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS, GD and RRB NTPC/Group D papers. Revise one month per day for twelve days and this topic is permanently closed.

The pairs examiners use to trap you

Most wrong answers on this topic come from four confusable pairs. National Youth Day is 12 January (Vivekananda) but International Youth Day is 12 August. National Science Day is 28 February (Raman Effect) but National Technology Day is 11 May (Pokhran). Teachers' Day in India is 5 September but World Teachers' Day is 5 October. And Constitution Day is 26 November (adoption, 1949) while Republic Day is 26 January (commencement, 1950). Write these four pairs on one page - they alone cover a large share of the tricky questions. Then lock it in with a timed GK set on Pareeksha practice.

Frequently asked questions

Why is National Sports Day celebrated on 29 August?

It marks the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. The National Sports Awards are conferred on this day.

What is the difference between Constitution Day and Republic Day?

The Constitution was adopted on 26 November 1949 (Constitution Day / Samvidhan Divas) and came into force on 26 January 1950 (Republic Day). Exams test exactly this distinction.
