AP Police Sub Inspector recruitment is conducted by SLPRB (Rc.No.81/SLPRB/Rect.1/2026, dated 16 September 2026) for 378 posts, of which 253 are Civil SI. The Preliminary Written Test is an OMR exam with two papers: Paper 1 (Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning / Mental Ability, 100 questions) and Paper 2 (General Studies, 100 questions), 3 hours each, and a candidate must qualify in each paper. What is the AP Police SI exam pattern?
Selection stages are Preliminary Written Test, PMT, PET, Final Written Examination (four papers) and final selection. The prelims has two objective OMR papers of 100 questions and 100 marks each, 3 hours per paper, in English, Telugu and Urdu: Paper 1 is Arithmetic and Test of Reasoning / Mental Ability (SSC standard) and Paper 2 is General Studies (degree standard). You must qualify in each paper: 40% for OC/EWS, 35% for BC, 30% for SC/ST. Prelims marks carry no weight in final selection, and the notification states no negative-marking clause. The Final Written Examination has four papers of 3 hours each: Paper I English (descriptive, 100 marks) and Paper II Telugu or Urdu (descriptive, 100 marks) are qualifying only; Paper III Arithmetic and Reasoning (200 questions) and Paper IV General Studies (200 questions) are objective and count for merit. For Civil SI (Code 11) these are 200 marks each, so merit is on 400 marks; for AR and SPF posts they are graded to 100 each and combined with 100 PET marks. The PET for Civil SI is qualifying only.

What is the AP Police SI syllabus?
Paper III covers Arithmetic (number system, simple and compound interest, ratio and proportion, average, percentage, profit and loss, time and work, work and wages, time and distance, clocks and calendars, partnership, mensuration) and Reasoning (verbal and non-verbal: analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualisation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory). Paper IV, General Studies, covers General Science (contemporary science and technology, environment), current events of national and international importance, History of India and the Indian National Movement, Geography of India, and Indian Polity and Economy. The descriptive English and Telugu/Urdu papers test short essay, comprehension, precis, letter writing, report writing and translation.

What is a good AP Police SI cut-off?
Prelims qualifying marks in each paper: 40% OC/EWS, 35% BC, 30% SC/ST. For reference, official 2022-cycle (Rc.163/2022) Civil SI final cut-offs out of 400, for Zones I to IV: General 257, 248, 247, 246; Women 230, 221, 233, 219; BC-A General 247, 224, 239, 240; SC General 213, 218, 224, 218; ST General 211, 204, 210, 215. The 2026 notification has 6 zones instead of 4, so cut-offs will differ.

How should I prepare for AP Police SI?
Treat the two prelims papers as two separate qualifying hurdles: a strong score in one does not offset failing the other. The notification states no negative-marking clause, so check the hall-ticket instructions and mark every question you can. Since merit rests on Papers III and IV of the final written exam (400 marks), build speed in Arithmetic and Reasoning and depth in General Studies, and do not neglect the descriptive English and Telugu/Urdu papers, which are qualifying and can eliminate you. Age limit is 21 to 27 years as on 1 July 2026 (the notification text does not separately state any G.O.188 extension), with relaxations such as +5 years for BC/SC/ST/EWS. Application dates are not yet announced as on 2026-10-08.
