Modern History Questions with Answers

Modern History questions in SSC CGL, CHSL, MTS and RRB NTPC/Group D papers cover the arrival of Europeans, the rise of British rule, the Revolt of 1857, social reform movements, the Indian National Congress and the freedom struggle up to 1947. Questions mix dates, events, leaders and acts. Tip: build one timeline from 1757 to 1947 and attach each leader and law to a year, since options often differ only by date.

Shortcuts that save time

  • Keep a one-line timeline in your head: 1757, 1857, 1885, 1905, 1919, 1920, 1930, 1942, 1947. Placing an event between two of these dates usually removes two options at once.
  • Link each reformer to the organisation name (Brahmo, Arya, Ramakrishna). Mixed-up founders are a favourite trap, so confirm the pair before marking.
  • Do not mark a date you only half remember. Skip the question and move on to avoid negative marks.
