This book covers all sixteen official national symbols of India, plus a handful of items — the "national game," the "national vegetable" — that appear constantly in GK material despite never being officially notified. Exams love that gap, so knowing it is itself a scoring opportunity.

How to use this book: each symbol has one hard fact worth memorising first — its adoption date or designer — because that is what MCQs actually test. The description around it is there to make the fact stick, not to be memorised word for word.

Memory hook: Group the symbols by the year they were adopted. Almost everything was fixed in the founding years of 1947–1950 (flag, emblem, anthem, song) or in a single wave of environmental symbols declared 2008–2010 (river, aquatic animal, heritage animal). Two dates, most of the book.
