- If A is x% more than B: A : B = (100 + x) : 100
- If A is x% less than B: A : B = (100 − x) : 100
Example 39: A’s income is 20% more than B’s income. Find the ratio of A’s income to B’s income. A : B = (100+20) : 100 = 120 : 100 = 6 : 5.
Example 40: B’s income is 25% less than A’s income. Find A : B. B : A = (100−25) : 100 = 75 : 100 = 3 : 4, so A : B = 4 : 3.
