15. PURNA SWARAJ DECLARATION (1929) — LAHORE SESSION
- INC Lahore Session, December 1929, presided by Jawaharlal Nehru (his first term as Congress President, marking generational shift towards younger radical leadership).
- Congress formally adopted "Purna Swaraj" (Complete Independence) as its goal, rejecting Dominion Status.
- 26 January 1930 was fixed as the first "Independence Day" / Purna Swaraj Day, to be celebrated annually with the Independence Pledge — this tradition continued until actual independence, and 26 January was later chosen (1950) as Republic Day in commemoration.
