- Day 1 — Foundations and North America. Read "How to Actually Memorise This Book" and the "Lake Classification Primer." Learn the five formation-mechanism mnemonic. Move to the Great Lakes section: memorise HOMES, the size-order mnemonic, and the connecting-rivers/St. Lawrence Seaway facts. Complete both Practice Recall boxes from memory before checking.
- Day 2 — Asia and Africa. Cover the Caspian Sea, Lake Baikal, and the Aral Sea section in full, then Africa's Rift lakes (Victoria, Tanganyika, Malawi). Learn both Memory hooks. Redo Day 1's recall boxes cold before starting new material — this is the spacing kicking in.
- Day 3 — South America, the Middle East, and Europe/Canada. Cover Lake Titicaca, the Dead Sea, and the "quiet giants" section (Ladoga, Onega, Great Bear, Great Slave). Build the full World Lakes Superlatives Table from memory, then check it against the book.
- Day 4 — Indian lakes: North and West. Cover the Indian classification-by-origin table, then Jammu & Kashmir/Ladakh and Rajasthan in full. Learn the region-specific mnemonics. Re-test Days 1–3's recall boxes cold.
- Day 5 — Indian lakes: East, South, and the Northeast. Cover Odisha, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh/Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra (Lonar), and Manipur (Loktak). These carry the highest concentration of single-lake "signature facts" in the book — drill each lake's one unmistakable identity fact before moving on.
- Day 6 — Himalayan lakes, superlatives, Ramsar cross-reference, and current affairs. Cover Himachal Pradesh/Uttarakhand, then build the full Indian Lakes Superlatives Table from memory. Work through the Ramsar cross-reference table specifically for the "yes/no" trap pairs, and read the Current Affairs section twice. Re-test every prior day's recall boxes cold.
- Day 7 — Full mock. Attempt the entire Thirty-Five-Question Flash Check cold, in one sitting, timed. Mark anything missed, re-read only those specific cards and their Memory hooks, work through the "Ten Frequently Confused Lake Pairs" section once more with each pair's wedge word said aloud, and re-test just those weak points one final time before the exam.
A final note on how to use this plan under real time pressure: if only three or four days remain before your exam rather than seven, compress Days 1–3 (world lakes) into a single session and Days 4–6 (Indian lakes) into a second session, keeping Day 7's full mock as a non-negotiable final step regardless of how compressed the earlier days become — the mock, not the reading, is what converts recognition into exam-ready recall.
