MUMBAI/WASHINGTON, July 29 — Edelweiss Mutual Fund has launched the Edelweiss Nifty REITs & Realty Index Fund, describing it as India's first passive index fund built around Real Estate Investment Trusts, tracking an index that currently allocates about 60 percent to listed REITs and 40 percent to real estate companies. The launch follows a regulatory change that reclassified REITs as equity instruments from January this year, making them eligible for inclusion in equity indices from July 1.
Separately, NASA researchers have proposed a mission concept called PRAXIS, short for Planetary Rings Autonomous Exploration with In-situ Sampling, which would use an AI-guided spacecraft to directly collect and analyse particles from Saturn's rings for the first time. The concept, led by a scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, has been selected for early-stage study under the agency's Innovative Advanced Concepts programme and could eventually extend to studying the fainter ring systems around Uranus and Neptune.
Two very different stories, one financial and one scientific, but both are the kind of niche-but-testable facts that show up in banking-awareness and science-and-technology sections respectively — worth noting the fund's uniqueness angle and the mission's full name and objective.
