Genealogy Snapshots of Key Dynasties

Mauryan Dynasty: Chandragupta Maurya → Bindusara → Ashoka → (weaker successors: Dasharatha, Samprati, and others) → Brihadratha (assassinated 185 BCE).

Gupta Dynasty: Sri Gupta → Ghatotkacha → Chandragupta I → Samudragupta → Ramagupta (brief, contested) → Chandragupta II → Kumaragupta I → Skandagupta → (later weaker Guptas) → dynasty ends c. 550 CE.

Vardhana Dynasty: Prabhakaravardhana → Rajyavardhana → Harshavardhana (no direct heir; dynasty ends with him).

Chola Dynasty (Imperial period): Vijayalaya → Aditya I → Parantaka I → (a period of decline) → Rajaraja I → Rajendra I → later Cholas until c. 1279 CE.
