Indian river questions are often taught as a list of names. That is the weakest way to remember them. This book uses a basin-first method: identify the physical setting, follow the river from source to mouth, attach tributaries and states, and only then attach dams, irrigation and policy.
The same river can appear in several forms: a one-line matching question, a map-based elimination question, a question on a dam, a flood or drought question, or a UPSC-style question on federalism and ecology. The chapters therefore repeat the same chain deliberately, but with increasing application.
Recommended sequence Read Chapters 1–4 for the northern systems, Chapters 5–10 for peninsular and coastal systems, Chapters 11–14 for projects and issues, then use Chapters 15–16 for retrieval. Keep a blank India outline and an error log beside you. |
