How We Check Every Answer Key
By Pareeksha · Updated
Short answer: a fixed-paper percentile is only as honest as the answer key behind it. So we check keys before a paper goes live, and we make it easy to tell us when we got one wrong.
What we do before a paper goes live
- Structural checks. Every question needs four filled options, a valid key, matching English and Hindi (or Telugu) versions, and working images.
- Independent solving. A second solver, from a different model than the one that wrote the question, answers it without seeing the key. Any disagreement is reviewed by hand rather than assumed.
- Language checks. Hindi and Telugu versions are checked automatically against the English. A native-speaker review of a Telugu sample is part of our standard; see the editorial policy for whether that reviewer is in place yet.
- Hold on doubt. A paper that does not clear these checks stays inactive.
When you find a mistake
Every question has a report button, both during the test and on the results page. Reports go into a single review queue, each with an owner and a resolution target. A person reads each one, checks the source, and fixes the key, the solution or the wording. If a key changes, past attempts on that question are re-scored and the students affected get a notice. The full corrections process.
What these checks cannot promise
- They lower the error rate; they do not make it zero.
- Where an official answer key itself is disputed, we follow the official key and note the dispute.
- Real exam cut-offs come from the official notice, not from a mock test.
Frequently asked questions
Can an answer key on Pareeksha still be wrong?
Yes. Any large question bank can contain mistakes, and we do not claim otherwise. Checks reduce errors, and the report button exists so the ones that slip through get found and fixed.
How do I report a wrong answer?
Use the report button on a question during the test or on the results page. Tell us which option you think is correct and why. The report goes to our review queue.
What happens to my score if a key is corrected?
When a key is corrected, every earlier attempt on that question is re-scored and the students whose score changed get a notice in their inbox. Reports are reviewed by a person, not auto-accepted, because a mistaken report would otherwise change other students' results.
