Use a blank sheet. Draw a slanted coastline, the broken Eastern Ghats inland, then five rivers in north-to-south order: Vamsadhara, Nagavali, Godavari, Krishna and Penna. Add hill-to-plain arrows. Insert Godavari's Polavaram and Dowleswaram; Krishna's Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar, Pulichintala and Prakasam Barrage; Penna's Somasila. Place Kolleru between Godavari and Krishna, and Pulicat near the southern state boundary. Label the diagram 'schematic' so you do not mistake it for scale geography.
Next place the major port Visakhapatnam and four important operating non-major port groups: Gangavaram, Kakinada, Krishnapatnam and the dated Kakinada Anchorage/Rawa entries. Add developing sites in a different ink colour. This simple choice prevents a frequent category error: an announced site can be geographically located even before it handles cargo.
Review in increasing intervals. On day one, read and redraw. On day three, retrieve the river-project matches without looking. On day seven, solve the MCQs and explain why each distractor is wrong. On day fourteen, repeat only items missed. Do not mark a chapter 'done' because its sentences look familiar; successful recall means you can produce a blank map and river-project table from memory.
The district cards that follow are geographic prompts, not the promised separate district-wise fact book. Their purpose is to anchor each current district to a hill belt, basin, delta, coast or interior position. Verify headquarters and mandal boundaries against the latest government map if an exam notification names an older administrative cutoff.
Worked map reasoning
Draw a blank AP outline and label only five river systems in north-to-south coastal order. Add one structure to each: Gotta for Vamsadhara, Thotapalli for Nagavali, Polavaram or Dowleswaram for Godavari, Prakasam Barrage for Krishna and Somasila for Penna. Then hide the labels and rebuild the list from the coastline. Retrieval from position builds a usable map, rather than a disconnected glossary.
Active recall: close the book, place the named river or region on a blank map, and explain one likely exam confusion in your own words.
