CGPSC State Services Prelims - Pattern, Syllabus & Free Mocks

The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) recruits for the State Services - Deputy Collector, DSP, Commercial Tax Officer and other Class I and II posts - through a three-stage process: Prelims, Mains and Interview. The Prelims is an objective-type screening test made up of a General Studies paper and a General Aptitude (CSAT) paper. A large share of the General Studies paper is Chhattisgarh-specific - history, geography, culture, economy and government schemes of the state - which is what separates this exam from a generic UPSC-style syllabus.

What is the CGPSC State Services syllabus?

General Studies covers current events of national and international importance, history of India and the Indian national movement, Indian and world geography, Indian polity and governance, economy and social development, general science and environment. The Chhattisgarh portion covers the state's history and dynasties, tribes and culture, art, folk traditions and festivals, rivers, forests, minerals and agriculture, districts and administration, and state government schemes. General Aptitude covers comprehension, reasoning, basic numeracy and data interpretation.

What is a good CGPSC State Services cut-off?

CGPSC does not fix a standard cut-off; it depends on the number of vacancies and the difficulty of that year's paper, and differs by category. Check the official result notice for the last cycle, and use your percentile in a fixed-paper mock as a relative guide.

How should I prepare for CGPSC State Services?

Build Chhattisgarh GK first - it is the highest-scoring and least-contested part of the paper - by working through it topic by topic (history, geography, culture, economy, schemes). Then keep a daily current-affairs habit, revise static General Studies by subject, and take full-length mocks regularly so that time management is not a surprise on exam day. Use chapter-wise tests to close gaps and full-length mocks to measure progress.
