NEW DELHI, September 22 — Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan inaugurated the 9th India International Water Week 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. The five-day Ministry of Jal Shakti event will run from September 22 to 26 on the theme “Climate Resilient Water Management.”
Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Paatil attended the opening. The Netherlands and Germany are partner countries, while 14 States are participating as partner States. Six central ministries and departments have been invited as partners. The programme has 10 major forums, including ministerial, global water leaders’, start-up, youth and industry forums.
The Centre has brought States, researchers, industry and global partners together to deal with water stress, floods, droughts and climate risk. States still need faster work on water conservation, groundwater recharge and efficient irrigation. India Water Week began in 2012; the 2026 event is its ninth edition.
