A person bought an article and sold it at a loss of 20 percent. If he had bought it for 30 percent less price and sold it for Rs. 125 more, then he would earn a profit of 50 percent. What is the cost price of the article?

Let CP=x. SP1=0.8x. New CP=0.7x, new SP=0.8x+125=1.5×0.7x=1.05x ⟹ 0.25x=125 ⟹ x=₹500.
