A quantity is first decreased by 12% and then again decreased by 8%. What is the overall percentage decrease?

Correct answer: (C) 19.04%
After a 12% decrease the quantity becomes 0.88 of the original, and after a further 8% decrease it becomes 0.88 × 0.92 = 0.8096, i.e. 80.96% of original. So the overall decrease is 100 − 80.96 = 19.04%.
