In a certain code language, A : B means ‘A is the father of B’, A @ B means ‘A is the mother of B’, A ? B means ‘A is the wife of B’ and A + B means ‘A is the daughter of B’. How is C related to R if ‘C ? O : V @ E + R’?

Correct answer: (A) Wife's mother
Decoding the chain: O is father of V (O:V), V is mother of E (V@E), E is daughter of R (E+R), and C is wife of O (C?O). So C, being O's wife and V's mother, is the mother-in-law of R (V's husband), i.e. R's wife's mother.
