Room A measures 14 m by 10 m and is to be floored at Rs 60 per square metre. Room B measures 18 m by 8 m and is to be floored at Rs 55 per square metre. Find by how much the flooring cost of the costlier room exceeds that of the other room.

Cost of Room A = 14 x 10 x 60 = Rs 8400. Cost of Room B = 18 x 8 x 55 = Rs 7920. Difference = |8400 - 7920| = Rs 480.
