The Gujrat Sabha under the presidentship of Mahatma Gandhi played a
leading role in the Agitation of the peasants of Kheda.
The revolt was organized by Gujarat Sabha and M Gandhi was its spiritual
leader in which, Kheda peasants were joined by Ahmedabad and Vadodara
Gujaratis making it a pure Gujarati struggle.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his colleagues such as Narhari Parikh, Mohanlal
Pandya, and Ravi Shankar Vyas organized this major tax revolt, which was
able to mobilize all the castes and creeds of the region.
It was a united protest, outstandingly disciplined in which the peasants of
Kheda signed a petition in the leadership of Sardar Patel and called for the tax
to be scrapped.
