The monthly incomes of two friends Vipul and Vijay, are in the ratio 5 : 8, respectively, and each of them saves ₹84,000 every month. If the ratio of their monthly expenditure is 1 : 4, find the monthly income of Vipul (in ₹).

Let incomes be 5x and 8x. (5x−84000):(8x−84000)=1:4 → 4(5x−84000)=8x−84000 → x=21000 → Vipul's income = 5×21000 = ₹1,05,000.
