Short answer: AP general knowledge questions in State exams most often come from the formation of the State (1953 and 1956), the district map, rivers and projects, famous temples and heritage sites, the governor and the High Court, important personalities and institutions such as Sriharikota. This post gives 100 questions on eight themes, each with the correct option and a one-line explanation. Read a theme once, then attempt its questions without looking at the answers.
For practice. Confirm against official books before an exam. Information as on 7 October 2026. Districts, schemes and office-holders can change, so check the official State government sites and the notification of the exam you are preparing for.
Andhra Pradesh GK looks easy and still costs marks, because many questions hide a small trap: a headquarters that moved, a district that was divided, a project with two names or a date that is one year off. This compilation focuses on stable facts that are checked against reliable pages, and it flags the places where recent change can mislead you.
The questions run from easy to moderate. Fast-changing numbers and this week's news are left out on purpose. For news preparation, see how to study current affairs for AP exams.
How to use this set
Work in three steps. First, attempt one theme, such as rivers, without reading the answers. Second, for each miss, read the explanation and write the fact as one sentence in your own notes. Third, return to the same questions after three days. Questions you now answer correctly can be left for the monthly revision. Those you miss again go into your error notebook.
If you can finish 15 questions a day, the whole set takes a week. Splitting the eight themes over eight days is also easy.

Common traps in AP GK
- Giving 26 districts for a question about the present map. The count is 28 from 31 December 2025.
- Using an old district for a place that moved, such as NP Kunta, now in Sri Sathya Sai.
- Mixing up the first Chief Minister of Andhra State (Tanguturi Prakasam, 1953) with that of Andhra Pradesh (Neelam Sanjiva Reddy, 1956).
- Confusing the three dates 1 October 1953, 1 November 1956 and 2 June 2014.
- Treating the Polavaram irrigation project and the new Polavaram district as one thing.
- Using a pre-2022 groundnut or population table for a present district.
- Forgetting that Telangana's Telugu Akademi and Andhra Pradesh's Telugu and Sanskrit Akademi are different bodies.
How to remember the facts
Turn every fact into a small table. For rivers, make three columns: river, source, project. For temples, make columns for deity, place and district. For personalities, make columns for title, field and date. Revise the tables once a week. When a fact conflicts between two sources, trust the later official document. For further reading, the formation history, the geography notes on rivers, districts and ports and the rivers, dams and irrigation projects notes cover the background.
