When several recruitment stories arrive in the same month, it becomes hard to tell what has actually been notified and what is still a plan. One report speaks of 10,060 posts, another of 3,168 posts in a single phase, a third gives a different Group-I figure, and a fourth says a notification is coming on a particular date. This post is a living tracker for the Andhra Pradesh job calendar 2026. Its single rule is that every figure carries a label: confirmed from an official document that was opened, or reported by the press. Everything is as on October 2026, and the label "as on October 2026" should be read as a photograph of the position on 7 October, not as a promise about what will happen next.

The post covers what a job calendar is and is not, the four phases and their reported dates, the notices that already exist on the official pages of the State Level Police Recruitment Board (SLPRB) and the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC), the phases that are still only reported, a way to choose an exam that matches your qualification, the documents to keep ready, a method for tracking notices without being misled, and ten practice questions. If you want the wider picture first, read the Andhra Pradesh government exams 2026 guide alongside this page.

As on October 2026. The finance department order is confirmed by an official document. The phase-wise post counts and the October dates come from press reports and are not confirmed by an order that could be opened. Nothing on this page is a substitute for the notification PDF of the exam you plan to apply for.

What is confirmed and what is only reported

The cleanest way to read the calendar is to separate the two kinds of statement before anything else. The table below does that. "Confirmed" means the statement appears in an official document or page that was opened for this post. "Reported" means it appears in newspaper or news-agency coverage and no order text was available to check it.

Item Status as on October 2026 Source
A finance department order, G.O.Ms.No.81, dated 22.08.2026, sanctioning direct recruitment Confirmed SLPRB press note dated 16.09.2026 cites the order and its number
An amendment by finance department memo dated 11.09.2026 Confirmed Same SLPRB press note
Total of 10,060 posts in four phases Reported Daily newspapers and news agencies; same figure in all reports
Phase sizes 1,523, 3,231, 2,311 and 2,995 Reported Same reports; they add up to 10,060
Notification dates of 15 May, 15 September and 15 October 2026 Reported as targets Same reports
SLPRB notifications issued on 16.09.2026 and 17.09.2026 Confirmed SLPRB Recruitments page and press notes
APPSC brief notifications dated 15.09.2026 for 20 posts or groups of posts, 892 provisional vacancies Confirmed APPSC web note dated 15.09.2026
Group-I detailed notification published 06.10.2026 Confirmed APPSC web note dated 06.10.2026 and the detailed notification
A DSC notification on 15 October 2026 Reported expectation only Press report; no official notice
Group-II notification Not found APPSC pages show no new Group-II notification
Excise constable and sub-inspector posts in the calendar Reported only Press reports mention numbers; no notification found
Application dates for the SLPRB posts Not announced SLPRB says they will follow by press release

Notice what the confirmed rows establish. The finance department order exists, it has a number and a date, and the Police Board has already acted on it. The APPSC has acted on it too, in the sense that it published a set of brief notifications on 15 September. What the confirmed rows do not establish is how the order divides posts into phases, because the phase table itself has come to us only through the press. For that reason the next section treats the phase table as reported.

What a job calendar is, and what it is not

A job calendar is a planning document. It states how many direct recruitment posts a government intends to fill, in which departments, and in which months the recruiting agency is expected to publish its notification. It helps candidates plan their year, and it helps departments send vacancy details to the recruiting agency on time. It is not a notification. It does not fix an application window, an exam date, an age limit, a fee, or a syllabus. All of those live in the notification of each exam.

A candidate who reads a calendar date as an application date will be early or confused. In the 2026 calendar, the second phase was first reported as due on 15 August and then reported as moved to 15 September because of implementation questions, so even the dates of intent have shifted once. Treat every calendar date as a target that can move, and treat the notification PDF as the only document that fixes your deadline.

A second point: the 10,060 figure is described as direct recruitment. That means outside candidates selected by an examination. It does not include promotions, deputations, outsourced positions or contract engagements. It is therefore not a count of every government job that might become available in the state.

The four phases as reported

The press reports describe four phases. The pattern is consistent across the Hans India, Deccan Chronicle, Telangana Today and other reports opened for this post.

Phase Posts reported Target notification date Status as on October 2026
1 1,523 15 May 2026 Reported as notified by the higher education department
2 3,231 15 September 2026 Official notices exist for a large part; see below
3 2,311 15 October 2026 Not yet due; reported target only
4 2,995 15 October 2026 Not yet due; reported target only

The four numbers add up exactly: 1,523 plus 3,231 is 4,754, and 2,311 plus 2,995 is 5,306, which together make 10,060. That internal consistency is a reason to trust the reported table, but it is not proof, and one earlier report gave different numbers (3,168 for the second phase, 2,388 for the third and 2,981 for the fourth) before the order was issued. The final table appears to have replaced those earlier estimates.

Phase 1: higher education

The first phase is reported as faculty posts notified by the higher education department on 15 May 2026. The related official evidence on the APPSC site is a pair of web notes. One dated 05.10.2026 announces that the computer-based screening and written test for Assistant Professors in universities, and for lecturers in the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies, will run from 1 December to 5 December 2026. It says the posts were notified by 19 universities, and it lists the subjects day by day. That is confirmed, but whether this recruitment is exactly the same set of posts as the 1,523 in the calendar is an inference, not something either document states. If you hold a postgraduate degree and the eligibility test required for the post, read that web note and the university notifications directly.

Phase 2: police, fire, prisons, forensic science and APPSC posts

The second phase is where the official record is richest. The SLPRB published notifications on 16 September 2026 and, a day later, a press note for Driver Operators in the fire service. The APPSC published brief notifications on 15 September. Together they cover most of what the press described as the September phase.

The SLPRB press note dated 16.09.2026 states that the recruitment was sanctioned under G.O.Ms.No.81 of the Finance department dated 22.08.2026, as amended by a memo dated 11.09.2026. It lists the posts and the notified vacancies.

Group of posts Vacancies in the SLPRB press note
Sub Inspector (Civil), Reserve Sub Inspector (AR) and Sub Inspector (SPF) 253, 116 and 9, which total 378
Sub Inspector (Communications) and Sub Inspector (Police Transport Organisation) 50 and 10, which total 60
Constable (Civil), Constable (AR), Fireman, Warder (men) and Warder (women) 542, 285, 158, 150 and 21, which total 1,156
Constable (Communications) 200
Constable (Mechanics) and Constable (Drivers), Police Transport Organisation 15 and 198, which total 213
Scientific Assistant, Forensic Science Laboratory 43
Driver Operator, Fire Services (separate press note of 17.09.2026) 147

The first paragraph of the same press note states the sanctioned total in a slightly different grouping: 369 Sub Inspectors (Civil and AR), 9 SPF Sub Inspectors, 50 Communications Sub Inspectors, 10 Transport Sub Inspectors, 43 Scientific Assistants, 827 constables (Civil and AR), 158 Firemen, 171 Warders, 200 Communications constables and 213 Mechanics and Drivers constables. Adding those gives 2,050 posts. The 147 Driver Operator posts come from a separate press note, so the police and allied total as on October 2026 is 2,197 across all these notices. The Board marks every vacancy number as provisional, so the totals may change.

Two things in this table disagree with numbers that circulate in news summaries, and the official numbers should win. One report gave the number of constables as about 1,970 and Sub Inspectors as about 418. The Board's own notices give 827 Civil and AR constables plus 200 Communications constables plus 213 Mechanics and Drivers constables, which is 1,240 constable posts of all types, and 438 Sub Inspector posts of all types (378 plus 60). If you read a different figure on a messaging group, ask which notification it came from.

The APPSC side of the second phase is documented in its web note of 15.09.2026. It lists 20 notifications with a combined 892 provisional vacancies. They fall into four application windows, which the web note describes as tentative.

Tentative application window Notifications and provisional vacancies
06.10.2026 to 27.10.2026 Group-I Services (163), Assistant Environmental Engineer in the Pollution Control Board (40 in the brief notification; 41 including 1 carried forward in the detailed notification of 06.10.2026), Horticulture Officer (37), Assistant Director in the State Forensic Science Laboratory Service (8)
09.10.2026 to 29.10.2026 Hostel Welfare Officer Grade-II in the BC, Social and Tribal Welfare departments (29, 21 and 23), Assistant Tribal Welfare Officer (6), Assistant Social Welfare Officer (11)
13.10.2026 to 02.11.2026 Assistant Statistical Officer (196), Assistant Director in Economics and Statistics (17), Assistant Director in Tribal Welfare (1), Inspector of Factories (12), Analyst Grade-II in the Pollution Control Board (18), English and Telugu Reporters in the Legislature (10 and 1), Executive Officer Grade-III in Endowments (104), District Probation Officer and Intake Probation Officer (15)
16.10.2026 to 05.11.2026 Industrial Promotion Officer (78), Supervisor Grade-I in Women Development and Child Welfare (29), Forest Section Officer (26), Draughtsman Grade-II in the Forest service (20), Forest Beat Officer (23), Forest Range Officer (4)

The note also says that detailed notifications would follow on or before the opening of applications, and it asks candidates not to rely on unverified circulars. The Group-I detailed notification did follow, on 06.10.2026, and raised the Group-I vacancies from 163 to 166. A separate web note of the same date confirms that applications for Group-I Services, the Assistant Environmental Engineer post and Horticulture Officers run from 06.10.2026 to 27.10.2026. For the full Group-I details, see APPSC Group 1 notification 2026.

A caution about arithmetic. The SLPRB total of 2,197 and the APPSC total of 892 add up to 3,089, which is lower than both reported phase-2 figures (3,231 and 3,168). It would be wrong to conclude from this that any particular post is missing, because the order's phase table is not available and not every APPSC notification necessarily belongs to phase 2. The difference simply shows that reported phase totals cannot be reconstructed from the notices alone, which is one more reason to rely on the notices.

Phase 3 and phase 4: the October targets

Phases 3 and 4 are reported to have a target of 15 October 2026. As on October 2026 that date has not arrived, and nothing official has been found for it. Press coverage describes the third phase as including Deputy Tahsildars (about 200), Assistant Executive Engineers (about 428) and a large block of power sector posts (about 629), and the fourth phase as mainly teachers through the Mega DSC (about 2,991) with a few adult education posts. These are one outlet's breakdown and should be treated as unconfirmed. An earlier report had described the third phase as mostly home department posts, which shows that the composition is not settled in public coverage.

Teacher posts: the DSC position

The school education category in the calendar is reported as about 2,991 posts, including School Assistants, Secondary Grade Teachers, instructors and other staff. A separate newspaper report of 22 September 2026 said that the DSC notification was likely on 15 October and that the number of posts would be around 2,535, spread across School Assistant, SGT, TGT, PGT, PET and Principal categories. The two numbers differ and neither is a notified vacancy list. No DSC 2026 notification had appeared on the official school education portals when they were last checked. For the verified rules of the previous cycle and a plan, read AP DSC 2026 notification: status and eligibility, the DSC exam pattern, and the TET guide.

Group-I, Group-II and the numbers that disagree

News summaries have given at least three Group-I figures: 149, 91 and 163 have all appeared in coverage of the calendar and the brief notification. The official figures are now clear. The brief notification of 15 September listed 163 provisional vacancies in 13 post codes. The detailed notification of 6 October lists 166. The calendar's reported figure of 149 for Group-I is a planning figure and does not match the notified number.

Group-II is different. The calendar is reported to include 673 Group-II posts, including Deputy Tahsildars, GST officers and Assistant Section Officers. As on October 2026 no Group-II notification was found on the APPSC pages. The last full Group-II cycle was Notification 11/2023. So the 673 figure is a plan, not a vacancy list, and any number of Group-II vacancies or any date quoted for the exam should be treated as unconfirmed until the Commission posts a notification. The Group 1, 2, 3 and 4 comparison explains how the groups differ in structure.

Age limits changed in September

Any plan for the 2026 recruitments has to include the age orders of 14 September 2026. The General Administration (Services-A) Department issued G.O.Ms.No.187 and G.O.Ms.No.188 on that date. As read in the APPSC Group-I notification, the first relaxes the upper age limit to 44 years for non-uniform services for recruitments notified through APPSC and other agencies up to 30 September 2027, and the second concerns a two-year relaxation for uniform services up to the same date. News coverage says the 44-year ceiling does not apply to uniformed posts in the police, excise, fire, prisons, forest and transport departments. The SLPRB notifications for constables and Sub Inspectors print their own age bands, and that is what governs those exams. For the practical effect on each exam see the age section of the Group 1, 2, 3 and 4 comparison, and always compute your age from the cut-off date printed in the notification.

The calendar is reported to cover prohibition and excise posts, forest, animal husbandry, engineering and power departments, and the fire services. Some of these are visible officially, and some are not.

Department Position as on October 2026
Fire services Fireman 158 (SLPRB Rc.91) and Driver Operator 147 (SLPRB press note of 17.09.2026): confirmed
Prisons Warders 150 men and 21 women: confirmed (SLPRB Rc.91)
Forest Forest Beat Officer 23, Forest Section Officer 26, Draughtsman 20, Range Officer 4 in APPSC brief notifications: confirmed
Excise Press reports mention about 400 constables and 25 Sub Inspectors; no notification found. See AP Excise Constable
Animal husbandry Press reports mention Veterinary Assistant Surgeons through APPSC with a written exam; no notification found. See APPSC Veterinary Assistant Surgeon
Engineering and power Reported for phase 3; APGENCO's separate 2026 AEE notification is a different recruitment. See engineering jobs after B.Tech, diploma and ITI
Village and ward secretariat posts Not verified; the official site could not be opened. See AP VRO and VRA

Which exam fits which qualification

An exam can only help you if you are eligible for it, so the first filter is qualification. The table below is a general guide as on October 2026. The exact condition, including the subject, the cut-off date and any additional certificate, is in each notification.

Your qualification Exams worth checking now Where to read more
Intermediate SLPRB Constable (Civil and AR), Fireman, Warder, Driver Operator; APPSC Forest Beat Officer Government jobs after Intermediate
Any degree APPSC Group-I (open), other APPSC posts, SLPRB Sub Inspector; Group-II once notified Government jobs after degree
Degree plus B.Ed or D.El.Ed DSC once notified, after a qualifying TET DSC School Assistant, DSC SGT
B.Tech or diploma APPSC Assistant Environmental Engineer, APPSC engineering posts when notified, power sector and railway posts B.Tech, diploma, ITI jobs
Science degree Scientific Assistant in the Forensic Science Laboratory; Forest Section Officer with a listed subject AP police recruitment 2026
Postgraduate with eligibility test Assistant Professor in universities APPSC web note of 05.10.2026

Five questions before you choose

First, does your qualification meet the exact wording of the post? Second, are you within the age limit on the cut-off date, and which relaxation applies to you? Third, does the exam include a physical test that needs months of training? Fourth, how many stages follow the first written test, and how long is the cycle? Fifth, can you realistically prepare for a second exam alongside the first, or do the specific papers differ too much? A candidate who answers these before opening a book usually saves months.

Two worked examples

Consider a graduate aged 26 with no B.Ed. A DSC application is not possible, because the teacher posts require the teacher training qualification. The sensible options are the APPSC posts open to any degree, the Sub Inspector post if the candidate is within 21 to 27 on 1 July 2026 and can train for the physical tests, and Group-II once it is notified. General studies, Andhra Pradesh history and geography, polity and current affairs are common to these, so one preparation base keeps several options open.

Now consider a 20-year-old with an Intermediate pass who is also studying for a degree. The Constable posts have an upper age of 24 on 1 July 2026, and Firemen and Warders 32. The Forest Beat Officer needs Intermediate. The practical decision is whether to prepare for the physical standards of the uniformed posts now, while the age margin exists, and treat degree-level exams as the longer plan.

The posts and notices that already exist, in one view

For quick reference, the notices that already existed on official pages as on October 2026 and are relevant to the largest groups of candidates are these.

Notice Date Posts Provisional vacancies
SLPRB Rc.91 16.09.2026 Constable (Civil, AR), Fireman, Warder 1,156
SLPRB Rc.81 16.09.2026 Sub Inspector (Civil, AR, SPF) 378
SLPRB press note 17.09.2026 Driver Operator, Fire Services 147
APPSC 07/2026, detailed 06.10.2026 Group-I Services 166
APPSC brief notifications 15.09.2026 20 notifications 892

For the exam-level facts of the police notices, including age, fee, physical standards and pattern, use AP Police Recruitment 2026, AP Police Constable and AP Police SI. For Group-I, use APPSC Group 1 notification 2026.

Documents to keep ready

When a notification appears, the application window is usually three weeks long, and the certificate you do not have becomes the problem. Collect these now and keep a scanned copy of each in one folder. The size, format and any date condition are in the notification.

Document Why it is needed Note
SSC (Class 10) certificate Date of birth proof The SLPRB notification accepts the SSC certificate date; horoscopes and affidavits are not accepted
Intermediate, degree and professional marks memos Qualification Check the result date against the cut-off date
Community certificate Reservation and age relaxation Use the official format
Non-creamy layer certificate for BC candidates BC reservation and relaxation Check the issue date condition
EWS certificate EWS reservation Check the financial year condition
Study certificates for Classes I to VII or residence certificate Local status The rule of study or residence is in the notification
TET certificate or score card DSC applications Check validity in the notification
Aadhaar, photograph, signature Identity and application Scan to the stated size
Disability certificate or ex-servicemen proof Special quotas Check percentage and date
No-objection certificate Serving employees Obtain from the employer

Common mistakes follow the same pattern every year: a name spelt differently on two documents, a community certificate from the wrong authority, missing study certificates, a wrongly sized signature scan, and wrong details in the one-time profile registration with APPSC. Fix what can be fixed before the window opens.

How to track notices without being misled

Social media forwards and video thumbnails often carry a date that sounds precise and has no source. A stable routine avoids that.

Exam family Official site What to look at
Group-I, Group-II and other services psc.ap.gov.in Notifications, web notes, exam schedule
Police, fire, warder, Sub Inspector slprb.ap.gov.in Recruitments page, press release page
Teachers cse.ap.gov.in and the TET and DSC portal Notifications and information bulletins
Power utilities apgenco.gov.in and the Vidyut recruitment portal Recruitment notices
Railways The website of your chosen Railway Recruitment Board CEN notices

A weekly routine of fifteen minutes is enough. Open each site you care about, check the latest items, and if a new notice exists, download the complete PDF and mark qualification, age, fee, dates, pattern and local rules. Note the source and whether it is official or reported. If a figure has no official source, do not act on it. A site ending in gov.in is official; an agent who asks for money to apply or promises a job is not.

If the calendar changes

The second phase moved once and the final totals changed between the pre-order estimate and the order. More shifts are possible. In that case do not stop preparing because a date moved; common subjects remain useful. Do not decide on one headline. Wait for the web note or notification PDF. Keep your documents ready so that a late announcement costs you nothing. And keep one alternative exam in view, so that a delay in one recruitment does not cost you a year.

Preparing for more than one exam

Subjects overlap more than most candidates expect. General studies, Indian polity and economy, Andhra Pradesh history and geography, current affairs, reasoning and arithmetic appear in the written stages of Group-I, the police exams and several APPSC posts. Teacher exams add pedagogy and subject content. Engineering posts add a technical paper that carries most of the marks. A practical way to share time is to choose a main exam, give it most of your hours, and treat the secondary exam as a beneficiary of the common subjects rather than a second full syllabus. Put the two syllabi side by side, mark the common topics in one colour and the unique topics in another, and study the common ones first.

Frequently asked questions

What is the AP job calendar 2026? It is the state's plan to fill 10,060 direct recruitment posts in four phases, reported to be sanctioned by a finance department order. The order number and date, G.O.Ms.No.81 dated 22.08.2026, are confirmed by a police recruitment press note. The phase table is press-reported.

Is the 10,060 figure official? The order is real and cited officially, but the figure and the phase split come from press reports, so treat them as reported.

Does the calendar date mean applications open that day? No. It is the target date for the notification. Application dates are in the notification.

When will the DSC notification come? A press report expects it around 15 October 2026 for about 2,535 posts. There was no official notice as on October 2026.

Has a Group-II notification been issued? Not as on October 2026. The calendar is reported to include 673 Group-II posts, but that is a plan.

Which notifications are open now? APPSC Group-I and several other APPSC posts have application windows starting in October. SLPRB's application dates are yet to be announced.
