This plan assumes you are sitting Paper 1 (Classes 9-10) English and have about two hours a day. The paper has 150 questions in 150 minutes: 100 on English, 30 on Art of Teaching and 5 each on General Knowledge, Environmental Science, Mathematical Aptitude and Logical Reasoning. There is no negative marking. The exam date for the 2026 cycle was not confirmed at the time of writing, so build in a buffer and re-check the official portal.
Daily split (2 hours)
| Block | Time |
|---|---|
| English grammar (new topic) | 50 min |
| Vocabulary routine | 25 min |
| Art of Teaching or the 20 "other" marks | 30 min |
| Timed practice or revision | 15 min |
Weeks 1-2: Foundation
- Week 1: tenses and sequence of tenses; subject-verb agreement. Make a one-page rule sheet for each.
- Week 2: prepositions as word pairs; articles; non-finites. Start the idiom and phrasal-verb cards from the vocabulary post.
- Art of Teaching: child development and learning theories.
- End of week 2: a 25-question mini test on these topics.
Weeks 3-4: Transformation
- Week 3: reported speech, with extended passages. See rules and examples.
- Week 4: active and passive voice for every tense; synthesis and cohesive devices.
- Art of Teaching: classroom management and assessment.
- Take the first full mock this week, just to see where you stand.
Weeks 5-6: Correction
- Week 5: conditional clauses, punctuation marks, error spotting by checklist. See the checklist post.
- Week 6: sentence improvement and fill in the blanks, mixing all rules. This is the biggest single item type, about one question in five in the sets we analysed.
- Start the 20 "other" marks: 15 minutes a day on GK, environment, aptitude and reasoning.
Weeks 7-8: Vocabulary push and mocks
- Week 7: synonyms, antonyms, one-word substitutes, spellings; revise all cards.
- Week 8: full-length mocks, 3 to 4 per week. After each, spend an hour logging every wrong answer by topic.
- Last two days: only your error log and rule sheets. No new material.
How to use each mock
- Attempt all 150 questions. No blank answers.
- Aim for English in 60 to 70 minutes, Art of Teaching in 25, others in 15, and keep 20 minutes for review.
- Tag each wrong answer: rule gap, vocabulary gap, careless or time.
- The next day's study block goes to the biggest tag.
What a good score looks like
The qualifying mark is roughly 75 of 150 for General category and lower for reserved categories (confirm in the notification). A comfortable target is 90 plus: around 65 to 70 from English, 20 from Art of Teaching and 5 to 8 from the remaining 20 questions.
Checklist before the exam
- Check the admit card and the exam centre a day earlier.
- Carry the documents the notification lists.
- Sleep. A tired mind misses simple agreement errors.
Practice the 60-day plan on Pareeksha
The Bihar STET English series has 25-question timed sets for this: topic-wise sets in weeks 1 to 6 and the 102 mixed sessionals in weeks 7 and 8, each 25 questions and timed. Each set is a fixed paper, so you can compare your attempts over time. The exam page has the pattern and syllabus in one place.
These questions come from previous-year questions of comparable teacher exams (KVS, EMRS, NVS and state TGT/PGT papers) on the same topics, not from Bihar STET papers themselves.
Next steps
Begin with the syllabus and pattern post, use the weightage analysis to adjust the plan, and practise full mocks in the free test series.
