NAGOYA, September 22 — The Indian women's cricket team defeated Sri Lanka by 147 runs in the final of the Asian Games 2026 to clinch India's first gold medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Batting first, India posted a commanding total and then dismissed Sri Lanka well short of the target. The victory is particularly historic as it marks back-to-back gold medals for the Indian women's team at the Asian Games, having won at Hangzhou 2022 as well.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) congratulated the squad. Sports Minister lauded the achievement as a sign of India's growing strength in women's cricket.
