EKTA NAGAR, September 22 — President Droupadi Murmu presented the 72nd National Film Awards at Ekta Nagar (Kevadia), Gujarat, on Monday. Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag was honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2024, recognising his six-decade-long contribution to Indian cinema.
The ceremony saw the presentation of awards across Best Film, Best Direction, Best Actor, Best Actress, and regional language film categories. The Directorate of Film Festivals under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting organises the National Film Awards annually.
The Dadasaheb Phalke Award is India's highest recognition in the field of cinema and was instituted in 1969 in memory of Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, father of Indian cinema.
