Littoral zone : It is the nearshore area where the sunlight penetrates all the way
to the sediment and allows aquatic plants to grow.
It is helpful for wildlife habitat, water quality, and erosion control.
Limnetic zone : The near-surface open water surrounded by the littoral zone is
the limnetic zone. This zone is well-lit open surface water and further from the
shore.
Photosynthesis is high in the photic zone even it exceeds the respiratory rate
Nearly 95% of photosynthesis occurs in the photic zone.
