AP TET - Eligibility, Papers, Pass Marks & Mocks
AP TET is an eligibility test, not a recruitment exam: passing it is one of the conditions for the DSC recruitment of Secondary Grade Teachers and School Assistants, and the TET score carries 20 percent weightage in DSC selection. As of 8 October 2026 the regular AP TET 2026 for fresh candidates had not been notified. A Special TET 2026 for in-service teachers only was reported by the press (computer-based test 11 to 21 October 2026). The figures below come from the last official notification and information bulletin; check the Department of School Education notice for the current cycle.

These are not AP TET papers. The mocks below are AP DSC SGT papers. What is the AP TET exam pattern?
Each AP TET paper has 150 multiple-choice questions, 150 marks and 2 hours 30 minutes, with no negative marking. Paper 1A (classes I to V, regular schools) has five parts of 30 marks: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II (English), Mathematics and Environmental Studies. Paper 2A (classes VI to VIII, regular schools) has Child Development and Pedagogy (30), Language-I (30), Language-II English (30) and a 60-mark part chosen by subject group (Mathematics and Science, or Social Studies, or a language). Papers 1B and 2B are for special schools.

What is the AP TET syllabus?
Language-I and Language-II carry 24 content and 6 pedagogy questions each in Paper 1A. Mathematics and Environmental Studies in Paper 1A are school content of classes III to V (tested up to class X standard) plus a 6-question pedagogy slice. The bulletin points candidates to the 2025-26 state textbooks of classes III to X (Paper 1A) or VI to X (Paper 2A) and the Telugu Academy and SCERT teacher-education textbooks. The syllabus is described as suggestive, not exhaustive.

What is a good AP TET cut-off?
Pass marks out of 150 in the last official cycle: OC and EWS 90 (60 percent), BC 75 (50 percent), SC, ST, persons with benchmark disabilities and ex-servicemen 60 (40 percent). The certificate is valid for life. There is no limit on attempts and a qualified candidate may write again to improve the score.

How should I prepare for AP TET?
Child Development and Pedagogy is common to every paper and the six pedagogy questions in each subject part are the easiest to secure. Prepare from the textbooks the bulletin names, practise on screen because the test is computer-based, and answer every question since there is no negative marking. Final-semester D.El.Ed. or B.Ed. students may write the test but cannot use the certificate in the DSC until they hold the qualification.
