Everything on this page is our study advice, not an official scheme. The syllabus is on the syllabus page and the paper structure on the exam pattern page. The plan is written for Paper 1A; Paper 2A candidates add an hour a day for the 60-mark subject group, and those writing both papers stretch it to about eighteen weeks. The full guide is at AP TET.
Set a target before you open a book
Write three numbers: your category pass mark (90, 75 or 60 out of 150), a realistic target 20 to 25 marks above it, and a stretch target above 120. In Paper 1A, 24 out of 30 in each of the five parts gives 120, and "24 a part" is a goal you can plan for. Prepare to raise the score, not merely to pass, because the score is carried into the DSC merit.
A twelve-week plan
| Weeks | Work |
|---|---|
| 1 and 2 | Choose the paper, check eligibility against the bulletin, collect the textbooks it names (classes III to X state textbooks, Telugu Academy and SCERT teacher-education books), and turn the syllabus into a checklist |
| 3 and 4 | First round of Child Development and Pedagogy, a short quiz after each theorist |
| 5 and 6 | Language-I and English on alternating days |
| 7 and 8 | Mathematics and Environmental Studies (Paper 1A) or the subject group (Paper 2A), pedagogy studied alongside content |
| 9 | First full-length timed paper, then the error log |
| 10 and 11 | Targeted revision from the error log, one full paper each week |
| 12 | Light revision, no new topics, rest |
Section by section
Child Development and Pedagogy is common to every paper and the cheapest place to gain marks. Learn theorists as pairs (Piaget and Vygotsky, Pavlov and Skinner, Kohlberg and Erikson) in a table of who, what, and one classroom example, because the questions are situational. The six pedagogy questions in each subject part of Paper 1A are the easiest to secure and the most often skipped. Language-I rewards daily reading: ten sandhi and samasa splits a day for Telugu, then passages. For English, ten words and one passage a day; read the questions before the passage. In Mathematics keep to a minute a question and work the class III to VIII textbook examples first. For Environmental Studies read the class III to V textbooks.
Mocks, the error log and screen practice
A mock is useful only with analysis. After each paper, sort every wrong or guessed question into three kinds: did not know, knew but slipped, left for lack of time. Whichever kind dominates decides next week's plan. The test is computer-based, so write at least three timed papers on a screen in the last two weeks. On pareeksha.in the 10-question mini-mock and Daily Dangal are free; full-length AP TET mocks are part of Pro.
Exam day
There is no negative marking, so answer every question. Divide the 150 minutes as roughly 30 minutes a part in Paper 1A, give no doubtful question more than two minutes, and keep the last ten minutes for marked questions.
Common mistakes
Studying only for the pass mark. Leaving pedagogy to the last week. Choosing Language-I by preference when the bulletin ties it to your schooling and methodology. Reading old notes that mention a seven-year validity. Studying summaries instead of the textbooks the bulletin names. Mixing up the regular TET with the Special TET 2026, which is for in-service teachers only. Trusting unofficial dates: as of 8 October 2026 the regular TET 2026 was not notified; check cse.ap.gov.in and the TET portal.
