हमने जिन पिछले अंग्रेज़ी प्रश्न-सेट का विश्लेषण किया, उनमें voice change और reported speech मिलाकर करीब 15 प्रतिशत प्रश्न हैं, और दोनों पूरी तरह नियम-आधारित हैं। इस लेख में नियम संक्षेप में और मौलिक उदाहरणों के साथ हैं, ताकि हर प्रश्न 30 सेकंड से कम में हल हो।

भाग 1: Reported (Indirect) Speech

Tense-shift तालिका

जब reporting verb भूतकाल में हो (said, told, asked), तो reported हिस्से की क्रिया एक कदम पीछे चली जाती है।

Direct Indirect
Simple present Simple past
Present continuous Past continuous
Present perfect Past perfect
Simple past Past perfect
will / can / may would / could / might

उदाहरण: She said, "I am reading a novel." बनता है She said that she was reading a novel.

दो अपवाद जो परीक्षक पसंद करते हैं। अगर कथन सार्वभौमिक सत्य या आदत है तो tense नहीं बदलता: The teacher said, "The earth moves round the sun" बनता है The teacher said that the earth moves round the sun. और अगर reporting verb वर्तमान या भविष्य में है (He says, He will say) तो कोई बदलाव नहीं चाहिए।

Pronoun के बदलाव

First person का pronoun reporting clause के subject के अनुसार बदलता है, second person का object के अनुसार, और third person वही रहता है।

उदाहरण: Rina said to Meena, "I will help you." बनता है Rina told Meena that she would help her.

समय और स्थान के शब्द

Direct Indirect
now then
today that day
tomorrow the next day / the following day
yesterday the previous day
here there
this / these that / those

प्रश्न, आदेश और विस्मयादिबोधक

  • Yes/no प्रश्न में if या whether लगता है और प्रश्न वाला शब्द-क्रम हट जाता है: He asked, "Do you play cricket?" बनता है He asked if I played cricket.
  • Wh-प्रश्न में wh-word रहता है पर क्रम सामान्य कथन जैसा: She asked, "Where do you live?" बनता है She asked where I lived.
  • आदेश और अनुरोध में told, ordered, requested + infinitive: The captain said to the team, "Please wait here." बनता है The captain requested the team to wait there.
  • विस्मयादिबोधक में exclaimed with joy/sorrow/surprise that: He said, "Alas! I am ruined." बनता है He exclaimed sadly that he was ruined.

Extended text का जाल

सिलेबस में "reported speech in extended texts" लिखा है। छोटे संवाद को बदलते समय हर पंक्ति को अलग मानकर बदलें, फिर and, adding that, and then asked से जोड़ें। हर पंक्ति में tense और pronoun का तर्क एक जैसा रखें।

भाग 2: Active और Passive Voice

ढाँचा

Passive = active वाक्य का object बनता है subject + be का रूप + past participle (V3) + by + पुराना subject।

be का रूप tense तय करता है:

Tense Active Passive
Simple present She writes a letter. A letter is written by her.
Present continuous She is writing a letter. A letter is being written by her.
Present perfect She has written a letter. A letter has been written by her.
Simple past She wrote a letter. A letter was written by her.
Past continuous She was writing a letter. A letter was being written by her.
Past perfect She had written a letter. A letter had been written by her.
Simple future She will write a letter. A letter will be written by her.
Modals She can write a letter. A letter can be written by her.

Perfect continuous tenses का passive परीक्षा में मानक रूप में लगभग नहीं पूछा जाता।

परीक्षा के खास मामले

  • Imperative: Close the door. बनता है Let the door be closed. विकल्प देखकर चुनें।
  • प्रश्न: Who wrote this poem? बनता है By whom was this poem written?
  • दो object: He gave me a book. बनता है A book was given to me by him. / I was given a book by him.
  • जिनका passive नहीं बनता: अकर्मक क्रियाएँ (arrive, sleep, go)। अगर कोई विकल्प इनका passive बनाता है तो वह गलत है।
  • By वाला हिस्सा हटाना: जब कर्ता अज्ञात, स्पष्ट या सामान्य हो (people, someone) तो by वाला भाग हटता है: Somebody has stolen my bag. बनता है My bag has been stolen.
