Most "top 10" lists of mock test websites only include private platforms. That leaves out the most useful free mock tests there are: the ones the exam bodies themselves put up before the exam.
So this list starts there. Four of the ten are official government sources, free, and built on the same exam software you will use on the day. The other six are private platforms, each with a different strength. We are one of them, and we say where the others are a better fit.
Everything listed for private platforms was read from their own websites on 4 October 2026. Counts and prices change, so treat these as a snapshot.
First, what an official mock test is (and isn't)
Official mocks are familiarisation tests. Their job is to show you the exam interface: how the question palette works, how to mark for review, how sections and timers behave, how to switch language. SSC has described its mock link as being for practice purposes only, and the sample questions are not a guide to the difficulty or content of the real paper.
That makes them essential once, close to the exam, and not a substitute for a regular mock series. Use them to remove surprises from the interface. Use a mock series for practice.
The official sources (free)
1. SSC: mock test link on ssc.gov.in
The Staff Selection Commission has, in past cycles, made a mock test link available on ssc.gov.in so candidates can get used to its computer-based test before exams such as CGL, the Selection Post exams and the Stenographer exam. News coverage in July 2025 reported the link going live ahead of that year's exams.
Use it for: a single run-through of the SSC exam screen in the week before your exam. Where: ssc.gov.in. The link's position on the site changes, so look for "Mock Test" on the home page or in candidate notices.
2. RRB: exam-specific mock links
Railway Recruitment Boards usually activate a mock test link for each CBT, close to the exam and often around the time the city slip or e-call letter is released. These have been put up for exams such as NTPC, ALP, JE and Technician in recent cycles.
Use it for: checking how language selection and the question palette work in the railway CBT. RRB NTPC, for instance, lets candidates choose one of 15 languages; the mock is a safe place to see how that works. Where: rrbcdg.gov.in and your regional RRB's official website. Ignore "official mock link" posts from anywhere else.
3. IBPS: mock tests alongside the admit card
IBPS has made mock test links available on ibps.in along with admit cards, for example for the RRB Officer Scale-I exam in 2025. Bank exams have sectional timing, so the interface rehearsal is worth more than it seems.
Use it for: practising sectional time limits and the IBPS screen before the exam. Where: ibps.in, in the section for your recruitment.
4. NTA: the mock test page at nta.ac.in
The National Testing Agency keeps a mock test page at nta.ac.in/Quiz. Most of it covers entrance exams such as JEE Main, NEET and CUET, but the list we saw on 4 October 2026 also included UGC-NET, CSIR, EPFO and a few recruitment-related exams. If NTA is conducting your exam, this is the official place to rehearse its CBT.
Use it for: NTA-conducted exams only. Where: nta.ac.in/Quiz.
A note on state exams: many state commissions do not publish mock tests at all. If yours does, it will be on the commission's own website, usually alongside the admit card.
The private platforms
| # | Platform | What their site lists (4 Oct 2026) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | Testbook | 1,000+ exams; Testbook Pass lists 1.5 lakh+ mock tests and 30,000+ previous year papers; Pass shown at ₹749/year, struck-through from ₹1,199; English and Hindi | Students writing many different exams |
| 6 | Adda247 | Test Prime: 1.5 lakh+ mocks, 25,000+ previous year papers, 800+ exams; video courses, live classes, books; study material in 12+ languages | Students who want videos and books with their mocks |
| 7 | Oliveboard | 100+ exams across banking, SSC, railways, regulatory and state exams; free mocks; English and Hindi mocks for SSC CGL; live classes | Banking and regulatory exams (RBI Grade B, NABARD, SEBI) |
| 8 | PracticeMock | 100+ exams; free weekly live tests and mini mocks; all-India ranking; language switch during SSC tests | Banking and SSC students who want to try before paying |
| 9 | Guidely | Live tests for bank, SSC and railway exams with all-India rank; live test questions in English and Hindi together | Live all-India tests, especially for banking |
| 10 | Pareeksha | SSC, RRB, banking and state PSC mocks; fixed papers; Hindi and English; ad-free | Students who want a percentile they can trust |
5. Testbook
The widest catalogue on this list. If you are writing an SSC exam, an RRB exam and a state exam in the same year, one Testbook subscription covering all of them is good value. Its previous year paper collection is very large. The yearly price we saw was a discounted one, so check what it renews at.
6. Adda247
The strength here is the full package: mocks, video courses, live classes and printed books from one brand. It also lists study material in many regional languages, which helps if you are writing an exam that offers them. If you learn best from a teacher on video, this matters more than small differences in mock quality.
7. Oliveboard
Long-standing in banking, with coverage of RBI Grade B, NABARD and SEBI that many SSC-focused platforms do not match. Its SSC CGL mocks are offered in English and Hindi, with free sectional and GK tests as well as a free full mock.
8. PracticeMock
A good place to try before paying, with free mini mocks and weekly live tests listed on its site. The ability to switch language in the middle of a test is useful for bilingual students.
9. Guidely
Best known for banking. Its live tests, where everyone takes the same paper in the same window and gets an all-India rank, are one of the cleaner ways to compare yourself with other students.
10. Pareeksha
That's us. Our full mocks are fixed papers: everyone in a cohort sits the same paper, so the percentile is a real comparison. If 5,000 students sat a paper and you were 500th, 4,500 scored below you, and you are at the 90th percentile. When students get different questions from a pool, that comparison is weaker, because part of the score difference comes from the questions.
Our papers are in Hindi and English and the interface is calm and ad-free. Full mocks, PYQs and sectional tests are part of Pareeksha Pro, which is paid; check the pricing page for the current plan. Free: the Daily Dangal quiz, mini-mocks and group tests with friends. You can see the exams we cover at /exams.
We do not offer video courses, and our exam list is narrower than Testbook's or Adda247's. If you need either, they are the better choice.
How to use these together
A realistic plan for most government exam aspirants:
- One private mock series as your main practice. Pick it using the checks in our post on choosing an SSC mock test app; most of them apply to RRB and bank exams too.
- Previous year papers from the exam body or a platform, for the most reliable sense of what is asked. See why PYQs are the best preparation tool.
- The official mock, once, in the last week, to rehearse the interface.
- A short daily quiz for GK and speed on days when you do not have time for a full mock.
Two things to avoid. Do not take mocks on three platforms at once; difficulty differs between them, and you will not be able to tell whether you are improving. And do not compare scores across platforms. Compare within one platform, using percentile and section-wise accuracy.
For how many mocks to take and how to space them, see how many mock tests to take before an exam. For an earlier look at free options specifically, see our free government exam mock test comparison.
FAQ
Are official mock tests the same difficulty as the real exam? No. They show the interface, not the difficulty. SSC has said its mock is for practice purposes only.
When do official mock links go live? Usually close to the exam, often around the admit card or city slip. Watch the official website for your exam; there is no fixed date.
Do I need a login for official mocks? It varies. Some are open, some use sample login details shown on the page. Never enter your real registration details on a "mock test" site that is not the official domain.
Which platform is best for state PSC exams? It depends on the state. Check which platforms actually list your state's exam with the current pattern before paying.
Is it worth paying for more than one platform? Rarely. One main series, plus PYQs and the official mock, covers most people's needs.
