AP District Fact Book · Chapter 34
33 | Krishna corridor and central plain

Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar belong to the inland Krishna project chain, while Prakasam Barrage anchors the Vijayawada reach. NTR district contains Vijayawada; Krishna district's headquarters is Machilipatnam on the coastal side. Guntur, Palnadu and Bapatla divide the older Guntur geography into urban, interior and coastal study belts.

A river crossing is not identical to a district boundary, and a dam reservoir can touch more than one administrative unit. For project MCQs, write river, site and district association as three separate facts. For district MCQs, use the legal map for the relevant year.

Worked example: On the Krishna corridor, separate inland Palnadu, central Guntur, NTR's Vijayawada and coastal Krishna's Machilipatnam. Prakasam Barrage is a river structure; a district headquarters is an office location. An old undivided Krishna or Guntur map can still locate a site but misstate today's jurisdiction. Keep physical and administrative layers together without merging them.

Active recall: Connect Srisailam, Prakasam Barrage and Machilipatnam without treating them as one type of place.
