NEW DELHI, August 16 — India hosted the BRICS Environment Working Group meeting in New Delhi, focusing on biodiversity conservation, circular economy, and climate adaptation strategies.
Delegates from member nations, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, attended the sessions. The discussions highlighted joint research initiatives, sharing of sustainable waste management technologies, and coordination of environmental policies ahead of the upcoming UN Climate Change Conference.
The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change stated that the meeting reflects India's commitment to global environmental cooperation.
International organizations and environmental treaties are key current affairs topics. Candidates should note that the BRICS group expanded in 2024 to include five new member countries.

पर्यावरण, वन और जलवायु परिवर्तन मंत्रालय ने कहा कि यह बैठक वैश्विक पर्यावरण सहयोग के प्रति भारत की प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाती है।
अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संगठन और पर्यावरण संधियाँ महत्वपूर्ण वर्तमान मामलों के विषय हैं। उम्मीदवारों को ध्यान देना चाहिए कि 2024 में ब्रिक्स समूह का विस्तार पांच नए सदस्य देशों को शामिल करने के लिए किया गया था।
