The second thing is honesty about who recruits. The Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (CG Vyapam, Raipur) has conducted written examinations for diploma-level technical posts of departments such as Public Works, Water Resources, Public Health Engineering and Rural Engineering in recent cycles. However, a power utility, a municipal body, an urban development agency or a development authority can advertise its own posts through a separate process. What the Job Is

A Sub Engineer or Junior Engineer is the site-level technical person for a department. The typical duties depend on the branch.

Civil branch (in Public Works, Water Resources, Rural Engineering and Public Health Engineering departments):

  • Survey and levelling for roads, buildings and canals, and preparation of drawings and estimates.
  • Checking the quality of cement, sand, aggregate, steel and concrete on site.
  • Recording measurements in the measurement book and preparing bills for contractors.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification

The usual requirement is a three-year diploma in engineering in the relevant branch (civil, electrical, mechanical or another stated branch) from a recognised polytechnic or a board of technical education. Some advertisements also accept a degree in engineering, which makes competition tougher. Some ask for a diploma with a stated minimum percentage. The advertisement will list the accepted branches per post, for example civil diploma for a civil post. Check the exact wording, including whether a candidate with pending results or a diploma from another state board is accepted.

Age Limit

The lower age limit is commonly 18. The upper limit for direct recruitment in state posts is commonly between the mid-thirties and forty, with relaxations for reserved categories and women, typically for residents of Chhattisgarh. The reference date is given in the advertisement.

Domicile and Other Conditions

State domicile preference or reservation applies in many state recruitments. Keep your certificates in the current format. Physical fitness for field work and a valid certificate from an approved institution are usually required. Some posts may ask for computer knowledge; read the notice.

Cement (ordinary Portland cement grades 33, 43 and 53; initial setting time not less than 30 minutes and final setting time not more than 10 hours), lime, sand (fineness modulus and bulking), aggregates, bricks (modular size 19 × 9 × 9 cm), stone, timber, steel, paints, damp proofing, foundations, masonry bonds (English and Flemish), doors, windows, flooring and plastering.

Concrete technology. Grades of concrete (M15, M20, M25), nominal mix ratios (M20 is 1 : 1.5 : 3), water-cement ratio, workability and the slump test, compaction, curing, and testing of cube strength at 7 and 28 days.

Strength of materials and structures. Stress, strain, elastic constants, bending moment and shear force diagrams for simply supported and cantilever beams, bending and shear stresses, torsion in shafts, columns and slenderness ratio, and the basics of trusses.

Reinforced concrete and steel structures. Limit state design principles, singly reinforced beams, slabs, footings and columns, reinforcement detailing, and basic steel connections. Learn the codes in outline: IS 456 for plain and reinforced concrete and IS 800 for steel.

Surveying. Chain surveying, compass surveying, levelling (height of instrument and rise and fall methods), theodolite and traversing, contours, plane table, and an introduction to the total station and GPS.

Soil mechanics and foundation engineering. Soil classification, index properties, permeability, compaction, consolidation, shear strength, bearing capacity of soils and types of foundations.

Hydraulics, irrigation and water resources. Fluid pressure, flow through pipes and channels, Bernoulli's principle in simple applications, weirs and notches, canals, headworks, dams and spillways, duty and delta, water requirements of crops and river training. This topic is especially relevant for the Water Resources Department.

Environmental and public health engineering. Water demand, sources, treatment (sedimentation, filtration, disinfection), distribution, sewage treatment, and solid waste management.

Transportation engineering. Road classification, cross-sections, alignment, pavements (flexible and rigid), road materials, and basic traffic engineering, along with bridges and culverts.

Estimating, costing and contracts. Quantities of earthwork, masonry and concrete, rate analysis, specifications, tenders and contracts, measurement book, and valuation.

Electrical Engineering

Basic circuit laws and network theorems, AC fundamentals, single and three-phase systems, transformers, DC and induction machines, synchronous machines, transmission and distribution, switchgear and protection, measuring instruments, power electronics basics, illumination, and safety and earthing. General Awareness and Chhattisgarh

Formation of the state on 1 November 2000, districts and administrative units, rivers (Mahanadi, Hasdeo, Shivnath, Indravati, Arpa) and projects: Gangrel (Ravishankar Sagar) dam on the Mahanadi in Dhamtari, Minimata Bango dam on the Hasdeo in Korba district, and others such as Tandula.
