06 | NTR Bharosa: how to verify a claim

A pension applicant's age, residence, family status or disability evidence may need verification. Sanction is distinct from payment: a name on a preliminary list does not prove a current instalment was credited. The pension portal describes a database-based financial-approval workflow with local administrative roles. A candidate should understand that a local complaint can concern eligibility, a record mismatch, a payment failure or an appeal against rejection.

The exact authority and documents depend on category and order. A person seeking correction should use the official local service and grievance process rather than relying on an online “agent” promising instant approval. Officials should protect personal and bank data; public transparency about aggregate coverage need not expose individual medical records or account numbers.

For exam recall, separate pension age from pension category. The portal lists old-age pension for persons aged 60 or above under its conditions, while disability and certain medical categories have different age rules. The 2026-27 budget speech's statewide payment total is a dated government statement about spending, not the current monthly rate for one person.

Worked example: A sanctioned pension may still fail at payment because bank details are wrong, an account is inactive or a verification flag is unresolved. The complaint must therefore distinguish rejection from a payment fault. A district officer can check a transaction reference without publishing the beneficiary's medical certificate or account number. This is a practical link between service delivery, grievance redress and privacy.

Active recall: Give three reasons why a sanctioned pension might fail to reach an account. Identify the source you would consult for a disputed category rate.
