Chapter 18 — Final revision: mixed practice and source discipline

Coverage window: 1 January–10 October 2026

Revision checked: 11 October 2026

Question set: CA26-MIX-001 to CA26-MIX-035

This final chapter trains retrieval across subjects. In an examination, a question may ask for a date, a financial stage, an institution or a source status rather than the headline itself. A candidate who memorises only a number may choose the wrong answer when the period or unit changes. Use the five mixed sets below to practise identifying the relevant field before answering.

A five-step answer routine

1. Classify the item. Is it a budget, scheme, award, law, forecast, launch, result, mission or meeting?

2. Read the date and period. Distinguish announcement, effective date, ceremony date and release date. Keep financial year separate from calendar year.

3. Write the unit. Crore rupees, rupees per quintal, percentage of GSDP, number of beneficiaries and number of transactions cannot be swapped.

4. Check the status verb. Proposed, approved, notified, commenced, sanctioned, launched, completed and evaluated describe different stages.

5. Use the strongest source for the claim. A Gazette establishes a legal commencement; a final results table establishes a medal tally; a budget document establishes a budget estimate; a tender notice establishes a procurement process, not a completed project.

Set 1 — Dates, institutions and status

The first set mixes a legal commencement notice, a state budget circular, a Padma announcement and a sports result. The task is not to recall all four headlines at once. Read whether each stem asks for legal effect, administrative workflow, announcement or final result. For the VB–G RAM G Act, the Gazette date is the legal anchor; the later Andhra Pradesh launch event is a separate fact. For a Padma award, the January announcement and May conferment are separate dates. For a budget distribution, a circular describes an administrative process but does not prove expenditure.

Set 2 — Economics and units

The second set compares Andhra Pradesh budget estimates, quarterly GDP, inflation and an agricultural support price. A budget deficit is measured in rupees or as a percentage of GSDP; inflation is a year-on-year index change; GDP growth may be real or nominal; MSP is stated per quintal. Before choosing a value, name its unit and period. A BE is not an audited actual. A provisional CPI estimate is not final. A quarterly GDP growth rate is not a full-year result.

Set 3 — Andhra Pradesh and implementation

The third set focuses on geographic scope and government process. A district press release should not be converted into a statewide beneficiary count. A portal is not proof of a completed service; a government order that creates a review committee is not its final finding. When an official document appears to conflict with a later administrative structure, compare publication dates and legal effect before drawing a conclusion. Preserve the earlier document’s wording as a dated source fact, and use the later effective notification for the current structure.

Set 4 — Science, technology and international relations

The fourth set tests source-stage precision in the GSLV-EOS mission, the AI Impact Summit, UPI and BRICS. Distinguish vehicle from payload, proposal from launch, a voluntary commitment from a treaty, and a partner country from a member. A UPI transaction count and transaction value have different units. A BRICS declaration is a negotiated political document, not automatically an Indian statute. These comparisons make a stronger memory network than a stack of unrelated one-line facts.

Set 5 — Evidence-based corrections

Use every wrong answer as a diagnostic. Write a single correction sentence that names the right fact and why the distractor looked tempting. Examples: “The launch registry date was 4 September, while a mission-detail page contained an inconsistent date”; “₹5,000 was the state component of a particular first instalment, not the annual combined assistance”; “normal monsoon was a May forecast, not final observed rainfall”; “the AI Summit declaration’s dates were 18–19 February within a broader programme that ran 16–20 February.” This produces a concise personal revision sheet grounded in source and status.

Five-day review cycle

  • Day 1: Chapters 1–4, then 50 questions. Mark dates and institutions.
  • Day 2: Chapters 5–8, then 50 questions. Mark approval, commencement and implementation stages.
  • Day 3: Chapters 9–12, then 50 questions. Mark AP geography and financial units.
  • Day 4: Chapters 13–17, then 50 questions. Mark international roles, award categories and source dates.
  • Day 5: Mixed set and error log. Reopen every official source behind a missed number before adding it to final notes.

This schedule is a study method, not an assertion about exam weight. Candidates should also check the applicable AP SLPRB notification and syllabus for the current recruitment cycle.

Final source checklist

Before adding any current-affairs fact to a notebook or website, record: exact claim, issuer, date, official link, geography, unit, period, status and whether the source is primary. If a secondary report is useful, trace the claim back to the official notice, order, result or data series. A source list is not a substitute for reading the cited record. Mark unresolved conflicts and do not hide them; when a later notification resolves an apparent conflict, state the effective date and source.

Complete the 35 original questions in five sets of seven. After each set, write down the two source-stage distinctions that caused the most errors.
