What is the APPSC Group-II exam pattern?

As per the latest official scheme (Notification 11/2023), the Screening Test is an objective, degree-standard paper of 150 questions, 150 marks and 150 minutes (OMR), with a deduction of one-third of a mark for each wrong answer. Mains consists of two objective papers of 150 questions, 150 marks and 150 minutes each (300 marks), held on OMR or computer-based test at the Commission's discretion, again with one-third negative marking. Paper I has Section A: Social and Cultural History of Andhra Pradesh (75) and Section B: Indian Constitution (75); Paper II has Section A: Indian and AP Economy (75) and Section B: Science and Technology (75). A Computer Proficiency Test (practical, 60 minutes, 100 marks) is qualifying, with minimum marks of 30 for SC/ST/PH, 35 for BC and 40 for OC. Earlier Group-II cycles had three Mains papers; the 2023 scheme reduced this to two.

What is a good APPSC Group-II cut-off?

APPSC publishes category-wise cut-offs along with its results. No official cut-off figures are reproduced here because none were available to us for the latest cycle; please refer to the result notices on psc.ap.gov.in. No 2026 Group-II notification has been issued yet, so any cut-off quoted elsewhere for 2026 is not official.

How should I prepare for APPSC Group-II?

Treat the Screening Test and Mains as two objective exams with the same one-third negative marking, so accuracy matters more than volume. Cover Social and Cultural History of AP, the Constitution and the Indian and AP economy in depth, since Mains tests them at 75 questions per section. Keep Science and Technology and current-affairs revision steady, and practise basic computer operations for the qualifying Computer Proficiency Test. As the 2026 notification has not been issued, use the time to finish the syllabus and then follow the official notification for any change in pattern.
