APPSC Forest Beat Officer (FBO) Notification No. 18/2026 was issued on 15 September 2026 for 23 posts (pay scale 25,220 - 80,910; Intermediate pass). Applications are open from 16 October 2026 to 5 November 2026 (11:59 PM). Unlike the 2025 cycle, 2026 has no screening test: selection is through a single-level online Computer Based Recruitment Test (CBRT), followed by a walking test and medical examination.

What is the APPSC Forest Beat Officer exam pattern?
The exam is a single-level online CBRT with normalisation if it is held in multiple sessions. It has a Qualifying Test - an essay in English, Telugu or Urdu on Forests and Environment (1 question, 45 minutes, 50 marks) - followed by Paper I General Studies & Mental Ability (100 questions, 100 minutes, 100 marks) and Paper II General Science & General Mathematics at SSC standard (100 questions, 100 minutes, 100 marks), for 200 marks in all. One-third of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates are then called for a walking test and Medical Board at a ratio of 1:2.

What is the APPSC Forest Beat Officer syllabus?
Paper I covers general science, current events of national and AP importance, Indian history with an AP focus and the Indian national movement, geography of India with an AP focus, polity and economy, mental ability, sustainable development and environment, and disaster management. Paper II has 50 questions of General Science (energy sources, the living world, transport and excretion, reproduction and heredity, natural resources, carbon compounds, environment) and 50 questions of General Mathematics at SSC standard. The essay test is on Forests and Environment.

The 2026 scheme drops the screening test, so the CBRT marks decide your rank; accuracy matters because every wrong answer costs one-third of a mark. Prepare the SSC-level science and mathematics of Paper II carefully, as it is half of the written marks, and revise AP-focused history, geography, polity and economy for Paper I. Practise a short essay on forests and the environment within the 45-minute limit.
