NEW DELHI, August 8 — India marked the anniversary of the Quit India Movement on Saturday, August 8, paying tribute to the freedom fighters who participated in the struggle to end British rule in 1942.
Also known as the August Kranti Movement, the campaign was launched by Mahatma Gandhi at the Bombay session of the All India Congress Committee on August 8, 1942, with the famous slogan "Do or Die" (Karo ya Maro). The movement acted as a major catalyst in uniting the nation and accelerating the demand for complete independence.
Commemorative events, exhibitions, and lectures were organized across various schools and public institutions to educate the youth about the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle.
