COLOMBO, August 8 — India and Sri Lanka held a bilateral review meeting in Colombo, focusing on power grid interconnection and joint renewable energy projects.
The discussions reviewed progress in the proposed High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) grid interconnection project, which will link the electricity grids of the two nations across the Palk Strait. The leaders also reviewed implementation updates for the Sampur Solar Power Project, a joint initiative aimed at generating clean energy in Sri Lanka's eastern province.
Both administrations agreed to speed up technical evaluations and finalize commercial agreements to secure energy transmission.
