NEW DELHI, August 12 — The Ministry of Communications blocked 3,718 mobile applications, 15.75 lakh SIM cards, and 5.77 lakh mobile handsets (IMEIs) on Wednesday as part of a national crackdown on cyber fraud.
The action was coordinated through the Sanchar Saathi portal and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C). Telecom department officials stated that the blocked accounts and devices were found to be registered using forged identity papers or were linked to active phishing, digital arrest scams, and illegal financial operations.
The ministry advised mobile users to verify connections registered in their names using the portal's security features.
Cyber security initiatives and regulatory portals are regularly tested in science and technology sections. Candidates should know that the Sanchar Saathi portal was launched by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to secure mobile services.
