MUMBAI, September 24 — The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) officially announced on Thursday that the player auction for the 2027 Indian Premier League (IPL) season will take place in Goa in December 2026.
The decision brings the premier cricket league's auction back to an Indian domestic venue after three consecutive seasons held overseas in Dubai, Jeddah, and London. BCCI officials cited streamlined logistics, domestic franchise convenience, and strong fan engagement as the primary factors behind the decision to host the event in Goa.
The two-day auction will feature leading international and domestic cricketers who will go under the hammer ahead of the 20th edition of the tournament.
Major sports governance bodies, leagues, and tournament venues frequently appear in general awareness sections. Candidates should remember that the IPL was inaugurated in 2008 by the BCCI, which is headquartered at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
