NEW DELHI, September 25 — The Government of India's flagship industrial development framework, "Make in India", completed 12 years of implementation on Friday, marking widespread expansion across 27 key economic sectors.
Launched in 2014, the initiative has transformed India into a global manufacturing powerhouse in electronics, mobile phone assembly, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy hardware, and defence hardware. Supported by Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes across 14 vital industries, foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows and domestic value addition have registered consistent growth over the decade.
Officials from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry stated that reducing regulatory burdens, simplifying business compliance, and modernizing logistics through PM GatiShakti have bolstered domestic industrial output and merchandise exports.
National manufacturing initiatives and economic growth schemes are foundational topics in Indian economy sections. Candidates should remember that the 'Make in India' initiative was formally inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 25, 2014.
